What Is the Ideal Temperature for Hot Springs?
First of all—what exactly is an onsen (hot spring)?
In Japan, the definition of an onsen is established under the Hot Springs Law, which specifies:
“Hot water, mineral water, steam, or gas (excluding natural gas with hydrocarbons as the main component) that emerges from underground and has a temperature of at least 25°C, or contains certain designated minerals above a specified level.”
At Yurari, visitors can enjoy natural hot spring water drawn from 1,000 meters underground.
The Reihou Open-Air Bath, Panorama Bath, and Takami Bath are all kept at 42°C, which is said to be the most comfortable and refreshing temperature for soaking in a hot spring. At this temperature, the sympathetic nervous system is activated, helping to refresh the mind and reset your mood. However, be mindful of possible rises in blood pressure—if you start to feel overheated, pour some cold water from the Reihou Cold Spring over yourself or take a short break in the lounge.
For those who prefer a gentler soak, the Aroma Bath, Cave Bath, and Carbonated Spring are maintained at around 38°C, making them perfect for long, leisurely bathing.
At Yurari, you can choose your ideal temperature and style of bathing, ensuring the most relaxing experience at your own pace.

Sauna

Yurari offers two unique dining options: the spacious Fujizakura Restaurant and the private dining room Okariba.

For a more exclusive experience, Okariba Private Dining offers a nostalgic Taisho-era atmosphere, where dishes are uniquely delivered to your table by a miniature steam locomotive.

Guests can indulge in a 90-minute all-you-can-enjoy dining session featuring three hearty hotpot dishes:

  • Hoto Nabe (a Yamanashi specialty hotpot with flat noodles and seasonal vegetables)
  • Fuji Zakura Pork Shabu-shabu
  • Shingen Chicken Paitan Nabe (a rich, milky chicken hotpot)

This one-of-a-kind dining setting combines cultural charm with delicious, locally inspired cuisine.

Bold and Unique! Mt. Fuji-Themed Curry
One of the signature dishes at the Fujizakura Restaurant is the eye-catching Blue Mt. Fuji Curry.
Made with a blend of special spices, this curry is creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Since its debut in April 2018, it has remained a popular menu item, often praised as an “Instagram-worthy blue curry.”

Red Mt. Fuji Curry
Following the success of the blue version, the Red Mt. Fuji Curry was introduced as the second in the series. Inspired by “South Wind, Clear Sky” (Gaifu Kaisei) from Katsushika Hokusai’s famous Thirty-Six Views of Mt. Fuji woodblock prints—commonly known as “Red Fuji”—this curry recreates the striking image in food form.

The vivid red curry is made with a unique spice mix featuring Japanese pepper (sansho), delivering a bold, numbing spiciness with a mala-style kick.

For those who want to take the experience home, both curries are also available in retort-packaged versions at the on-site gift shop. With their unique colors and flavors, they make for fun and memorable souvenirs from your Mt. Fuji trip.
